MARBELLE clamping the stern piece
The stern piece, like the stern seat, was created indoors during the winter. Marbles were laid out on a towel first, and later the design was transferred to a sheet of plexi that had been scratched and spray-painted. Numerous tests had determined that caulk would not stick to bare plexi, but this worked. The whole piece is caulked onto the boat. The clamps caused some sections of marbles to peel off, but there was time to replace them. Interestingly, the failure was not between the marbles and caulk or the caulk and the paint, but between the paint and the plexi.
